Heated Discussion Aroused Among International Students of NCEPU on President Xi Jinping’s Letter in Reply to International Students of Peking University
On June 21, President Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, wrote back to the international students of Peking University, which aroused a warm response among the international students of NCEPU. The international students all said that General Secretary Xi Jinping’s reply was sincere, and they were deeply moved and encouraged. During their studies at NCEPU, they experienced the rapid changes taking place in China under the leadership of the Communist Party of China. They will have a better understanding of the real China, tell China’s stories to more people, show the real face of China, and play a positive role in promoting mutual understanding among people of all countries.
On June 23, the International Education Institute organized a symposium for international students to exchange ideas on the content and spirit of President Xi Jinping’s reply. At the symposium, all students earnestly studied the original letter, and had talks on what they had learned from it.
"After I came to China, I found it completely different from my previous impression. I saw a new China, a warm and welcoming country," said Li Qianyi, a postgraduate student admitted in 2017 from Pakistan. "I came to China for study. Facing students from all over the world, I needed to adapt to different cultures and languages. All these were challenges to me. By making adjustments, I improved my ability and made remarkable progress. I admire very much the Chinese people and the development of Chinese society. I am very grateful to the Communist Party of China and the Chinese government for their support and hospitality."
Nalan Zheng, a doctoral candidate from Sudan, said, "I would like to thank the Chinese government for giving us the opportunity to study in China. I would also like to thank General Secretary Xi Jinping for his concern and attention to the life of international students in China. The rapid development of China in recent years is well known to all. As a student from Sudan, I sincerely feel happy for China’s development and wish the Communist Party of China a happy 100th birthday."
Han Yingnan, a doctoral candidate admitted in 2017, majoring in Renewable and Clean Energy from North Korea, said, "I’ve been to many places since I came to China. Whether in bustling cities or simple villages, every Chinese felt very happy. What impressed me most is the rapid development of China’s economy in recent years. At the start of 2020 when the pandemic situation was urgent, the Communist Party of China and the Chinese government adopted timely and correct policies, bringing the pandemic under complete control. I am particularly grateful to that. And I would like to express my gratitude to the International Education Institute for its constant care."
Qi Jianjun, Deputy Director of the International Education Institute, said in his speech, "At the important moment when the 100th Anniversary of the Founding of the Communist Party of China is approaching, General Secretary Xi Jinping wrote back to the international students of Peking University, encouraging them to get a deeper understanding of the real China and play a positive role in promoting mutual understanding between the people of the world. That is really a great encouragement to us. We will earnestly study and implement the spirit of the General Secretary Xi’s important reply, take ‘telling China’s stories’ as the main line, and carry out various activities such as social practice and cultural experience of "reading China", so as to present a real and comprehensive view of China to international students, guide international students to deeply understand China’s historic achievements in economic and social development and its responsibility as a major country in promoting human progress under the leadership of the Communist Party of China, and to further cultivate the complex of knowledge, friendship and love for China, so that more international students can become a bridge of mutual understanding between people.
