North China Electric Power University (NCEPU) attaches great importance to providing a sufficient and comfortable self-study environment for international students to develop good self-study habits. The library, classrooms, self-study rooms and other self-studying places are open to international students. Each floor of the international student apartment has a special self-studying classroom, which is convenient for international students to conduct self-studying activities after class.

International Education Institute (IEI) has rebuilt some self-study rooms for international students that are suitable for self-study and group discussions. Many classrooms on the fourth and fifth floors of Main Building C are built into smart classrooms for the daily teaching and learning of international students. There are 15 smart classrooms on the fourth floor and 3 smart classrooms on the fifth floor. In addition, IEI rebuilt the corridor between Main Building B and C into self-studying rooms to specially provide international students with some places for independent study.

Library and classrooms are available for self-study during the opening period. The self-studying rooms in the international student apartment can be used overnight, the self-studying rooms in the corridor of Main Building and the overnight self-studying rooms on the third floor of Teaching Building No. 1 and the first and second floors of Area A of Teaching Building No. 5 can be used for all-day self-study. International students can go for self-study at any time and any place according to their preference and needs, which enjoy the same right of use as Chinese students.
