International Students from NCEPU Were Invited to Participate in the World Intelligent Connected Vehicles Conference and the China International New Energy and Intelligent Connected Vehicles Exhibition
On the morning of November 11, 2020, 42 international students from North China Electric Power University (NCEPU) were invited to participate in the World Intelligent Connected Vehicles Conference and the China International New Energy and Intelligent Connected Vehicles Exhibition held at the China International Exhibition Center.
In recent years, with the help of policies, communication and energy technology, intelligent connected vehicles and new energy vehicles have developed rapidly. Intelligent connected vehicles and new energy vehicles will play leading roles in the future automobile industry. It is an indispensable course for students of NCEPU to understand the development trend of the future vehicle industry and learn advanced new vehicle technology. The World Intelligent Connected Vehicles Conference is the highest-standard international exchange platform for China’s intelligent connected vehicle industry. With the theme of "Co-building an Ecosystem to Lead a Smart Future-Ushering in a New Era of Automobiles", this conference exhibited new vehicles, advanced technologies of environmental protection and intelligent vehicles, new vehicle supporting facilities, upstream and downstream enterprises and institutions in the automobile industry chain, etc.
Bringing together many automobile enterprises from all over the world, the exhibition exhibited not only vehicle models and product technology deconstruction and display but also lifelike driving experience simulator, automatic driving vehicle, new material battery, intelligent connected charging facilities, big data, cloud computing platform and other intelligent vehicle core technologies. These exhibits enabled the international students to experience more efficient management system, more convenient driving operation, more comfortable car experience and safer traffic mode of the intelligent connected vehicles. They felt their horizon was greatly widened after they soothed their excitement.
Nasier, a postgraduate student of Electrical Engineering from Pakistan who admitted to the NCEPU in 2019, was impressed by the application of 5G technology in the exhibition, "Technicians explained to us with figures: assuming that an automatic driving vehicle runs at a speed of 60 km/h, according to the common communication delay of 60ms, the braking distance of the vehicle is about 1m; however, if the communication delay is reduced to 1ms, the theoretical delay of 5G, the braking distance will be reduced to only 17mm. Thus, 5G technology complements the ‘short board’ of the Internet of vehicles and automatic driving in the communication network." Although the Chinese enterprises in the exhibition covered different fields, they carried out bold innovation and in-depth exploration in intelligent connected technology. This not only made the international students feel that the efforts of independent innovation, independent development, independent brand and industrial structure upgrading of Chinese enterprises were increasing, but also made them realize the efforts made by Chinese enterprises for energy conservation and environmental protection.
Finally, the international students participated in the discussion meeting related to intelligent connected vehicles. At the meeting, the professionals introduced the latest situation of the industry hot spots, such as road test, business innovation, policies and regulations and standard system of intelligent connected vehicles, to the international students, so that they had a new understanding of the future travel mode. The visit to the vehicle conference expanded the international vision of the international students of NCEPU, made them have a deeper understanding of the development of the intelligent connected vehicle industry and Chinese automobile enterprises, provided guidance for their future learning and development direction, and built a bridge for the future international talent exchange between universities and enterprises. At present, the NCEPU has fully promoted the internationalization strategy and constantly improved our level of international education and training. Combining with the characteristics of international compound talents cultivation, the NCEPU encourages students to learn and understand new industries and new products in the power industry widely, constantly expand their international vision, improve their professional comprehensive quality, lay a solid foundation for being competent in the high-tech field and constantly make new and greater contributions in actively enhancing the level of our international strategy and the construction of a high-level research university, and helping NCEPU approach the center of the world stage, promote the construction of a community with a shared future for mankind and realize the Chinese dream of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.
